English as an Additional Language (EAL)
At the International School of Hellerup (ISH), we are committed to placing the student at the centre of teaching and learning. As an extension of our student-centred philosophy, we believe that tailoring the teaching and learning for the needs of language learners is a must. Therefore, the English as an Additional Language (EAL) program at ISH is designed to support the language needs of our life-long learners, to be able to access curriculum and content and build confidence in participating in social and academic dialogues in English. The EAL program at ISH uses a wide range of tools and resources to support their language journey.
Enrolling in the EAL Program
At ISH, we place students new to English or learning English as an additional language in the EAL program. With English as the language of instruction at ISH, our primary goal is to ensure that students are confident and successful in their learning journey. As students progress, and demonstrate successful use of English as a social and academic language, both effectively and independently across all subject areas, they have the opportunity to exit the EAL program.
